FLAG PATTERN BREAKOUT ON $SCTY – SOLAR CITY

Trading is one of the hardest things to learn. In the beginning you will make numerous mistakes, and without making mistakes and having losing trades you will not progress and learn as a trader. It took me a while to start recognizing different patterns in the market each day. After a while you will start to see some of the same setups repeat and you will start to learn how to trade those patterns. Here is a video that I  put together for the flag pattern breakout. This is a live trading video, I recorded my desktop live for the first hour of trading while I was trading $SCTY or Solarcity.

I edited the video to help you see how I made the trade from point A to Z,, the entry to the exit and the profit I made. This video will help you see what a Flag pattern breakout is. This is a very common pattern in the market that you see over and over each day. The key is to start recognizing the pattern and understanding when to take the trade. I hope this helps.

FINALLY – MY FIRST LIVE TRADING VIDEO!!

I finally got it made! Recently I have been recording my desktop screen to capture my trading with Snagit by Microsoft. Its a screen capture software and I also signed up for a free trial for Camtasia, which is a video editing software. It took me 3 weeks to edit this video due to work schedule and trying to trade at the same time but I finally got it made.  I have a whole new respect for movie editors!

This video captures two earnings play for Ali Baba and Qualcomm. The video quality is not very good and I just added a few things to the video to explain the trades. Once I get more proficient with the editing software the videos will be better. If  anyone has any recommendation on better software which has better video quality please let me know. Appreciate it!

 

 

SERIES 56 LICENSE

Its been a while… a long while since I posted something. This is just a quick update for whats been happening since last time I posted anything… I have been studying my ass off on charts and stocks, also received my Series 56 License in July. For anyone who is taking the exam, feel free to reach out to me if you need any insight.. I also created flash cards to help me study. You can access them by clicking HERE.

RULES FOR BEING A DISCIPLINED TRADER

When I started trading a couple of years ago I didn’t know anything about having rules or boundaries. I bought and sold stocks as I pleased. Luckily in the beginning I didn’t get burned or wipe my account out. Instead I traded small and learned from my mistakes. As time went on I started trading with more shares and risked more money, and the result was either bigger gains or bigger losses. Now I trade pretty much full time and I have made MANY mistakes and learned the hard way. I now understand why there are rules that you must follow and stay disciplined in order to become successful as a trader. I have made money trading but at the same time I have lost lots of money to because I don’t follow my own rules. Trust me, most all traders will go through this and most of them will learn the hard way! You won’t start following your own rules until you get burned, lose a few thousand dollars because you got greedy or didn’t stay disciplined or you were up a few thousand in the morning and gave it all back by lunch time.. … that’s right these things happen to all traders but the good news is you can prevent it. The only way to do so is TO FOLLOW YOUR OWN RULES!!!!

Here are a list of rules I have complied that I TRY to follow…..that right “TRY” because I do break my own rules from time to time but the key is staying in the game and progressing forward. Trading is very emotional so its easy to break a rule here and there, stay focused and understand how to play the game and you will be successful.

3.) DONT GET GREEDY

4.) STAY IN THE GAME

5.) THERE WILL ALWAYS BE ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY

6.) FOLLOW THE TREND

7.) BUILDING YOUR ACCOUNT TAKES TIME, IT DOESN’T HAPPEN OVERNIGHT

8.) WAIT FOR YOUR SETUP, LET THE TRADE COME TO YOU

9.) STOP TRADING ONCE YOU MAKE YOUR GOAL. STAY DISCIPLINED

10.) ALWAYS TAKE PROFITS

STAY MOTIVATED … BECAUSE SHIT HAPPENS!!!!

Life will hand you a bunch of obstacles and just when you think you made it all hell will break lose. It’s an unexpected journey, keep moving forward…. stay inspired and motivated as much as you can, because you are not the only one going through it. People give up because they look at how far they have to go rather than how far they’ve actually came. Don’t fucking give up…. and if your dreams don’t scare you that’s because their not BIG enough!! Now go make this shit happen!!

SHORTED $FSLR FOR $1,100 IN GAINS

As earnings season winds down soon, there are sill a few notable companies left to report. One of them was First Solar which reported earnings yesterday after the close. $FSLR did not have a good earnings report and it went down more than 10% after market. So today I knew there would be a continuation pattern. The key was getting in the right entry with the SSR rule on. I got squeezed a few times but finally got the right entry and made a little over $1100 today. For all my videos click here

 

HOW I CREATE MY WATCHLIST

Someone asked me how I go about finding stocks to trade everyday. I created a brief video on how I find stocks and create a watch list. Since I day trade there are a few factors that are important to me as far as volume, liquidity, price and trend. For a day trader Volume is key since you need to be in and out of a stock quickly, also understanding the trend of where the stock is going, either up or down and once you have your setup you can enter  your trade and exit accordingly. Its been a crazy two days! Yesterday we broke through all time highs but did not close there. Today there were a few earnings play and biotech plays that I traded. One of the things that I need to learn is to stop over trading after I make my profits in the morning. Happy Monday! Today $SPY reached a all time high in stock market history. It broke through the $185 mark and we are heading higher. Trade recap for Feb. 20th 2014. Although I made profit today I did not trade well. I should of been a little more patient on my entries, in hind sight potential of a 1k day made $300.
